SKI RESORT IMPROVEMENTS FOCUS ON GUEST EXPERIENCE Grooming, Snowmaking Food and Beverage and Ski School all Upgraded for 2006/2007
TELLURIDE, Colo. (November 14 , 2006) – The Telluride Ski Resort (Telski) announced today a substantial capital improvement program on the mountain and throughout resort operations. Grooming and snowmaking improvements have been being implemented, food and beverage outlets are receiving an overhaul and guest services is undertaking a major training program. All of the improvements are in response to customer feedback and with a focus on improved guest experience.
Grooming continues to be a top priority at Telski and to ensure superior groomed trail conditions, 3 new snowcats were added to the fleet, with one winch-cat and two mainline groomers. The cost of the three new cats is three quarters of a million dollars.
The snowmaking team is working with a newly replaced valve house, new power-line, and two new fan guns, including an SMI Polecat located on Misty Maiden. The Polecat is elevated creating longer hang-time resulting in greater efficiency and higher water to snow conversion.
Food and beverage outlets Gorrono Ranch and That Pizza Place are both undergoing major improvements in food quality and service. A new outdoor bar and bandstand have been added to the deck of Gorrono Ranch. The Smoke House barbeque area has been enclosed and new grills have been added for operation everyday throughout the ski season. The indoor kitchen has doubled in size and also received new equipment enabling speed and improved quality.
“We heard a lot from our customers on our food and beverage,” says Jeff Proteau, Vice President of Resort Operations at Telski. “We revamped our infrastructure and implemented some key components to raise the quality of both our food and dining experience.”
The restaurant formerly known as “That Pizza Place” has been reconfigured, including new pizza ovens, better storage, a larger prep area, and a warmer ambiance. The changes will bring extraordinary pizzas and sandwiches with faster service, and a new name for the establishment will be unveiled soon.
Ski School also upgraded amenities for the 2006/2007 season. The kid’s check in area has been reorganized with new desk procedures, speeding check in time and ease. A new ski instructor look graces the slopes this year, as ski school instructors will now be outfitted in new Descent uniforms.
