Skiers visiting Telluride this winter can now earn frequent flier miles for every vertical foot skied when booking a qualifying package of 4 days or more. Telluride ski resort guests track their own on mountain experience with the new SlopeTracker GPS and Mountain Miles Program. A new partnership with Continental and Delta Airlines allow skiers who participate in the program to receive one air mile for every 100 vertical foot skied. Vacationers receive a GPS armband at the beginning of each day to calculate their frequent flier miles. Skiers who participate in the GPS Ski Tracking Service take home a souvenir map detailing their skiing experience including number of runs taken, vertical feet achieved, speed, calories burned, distance traveled, time skied, and terrain difficulty.

» America West/USAIR RENEWS Phoenix Winter Air Service!

Telluride Regional Airport to be served From Phoenix by America West/USAir 2006-2007 winter Telluride Montrose Regional Air Organization (TMRAO) announced America West/USAir will renew winter service with two daily non-stop flights between Phoenix and Telluride Regional Airport beginning December 15, 2006. This service will run through March 31, 2007. A 37 passenger Dash 8 aircraft will operate the service.
"We're pleased that America West/USAir will be serving the Telluride Airport this coming winter," said Tom Hess President of TMRAO. "This service pleases both Telluride local residents and visitors alike, while providing great connections to other destinations in Arizona, Southern California and the west coast."

The Telluride Historical Museum with the support of the Mountain Village Owners Association is proud to kick off the second summer season of Fireside Chats. "If you thought last summer was full of interesting topics, this summer looks to be even more fun, educational, informative, and engaging than before!" states Telluride Historical Museum Assistant Director Sonchia Jilek. On August 3rd long time locals William "Senior" Mahoney and Johnnie Stevens will discuss the development of transportation to and from the high country. Stevens and Mahoney will delve into the topic of the construction of the trams for moving ore, goods, and men throughout the region. They will also connect the advent of the tram to its modern cousin, the gondola as a modern mode of transportation in the high country.
